About the Hotel

Leopold De Waelplaats 34, Antwerp, Belgium, 2000

Hotel Pilar, a 3-star design hotel located in front of the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, is the brainchild of architect Sam Peeters and hospitality expert Christophe Ysewyn who created a relaxed meeting spot where visitors feel at home.

Light-Filled Comfort Rooms

All 17 rooms at Hotel Pilar come with plenty of natural light and king size bedding. Most bathrooms are open plan with bathtubs, showers, and Le Labo Santal 33 products, while certain units feature a seating area for relaxation.

Local Seasonal Dining

The Food Bar offers daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner using regional cuisine with seasonal products from local suppliers. Guests can choose between three set menus with juice and coffee included, or select options like seabass ceviche, sweet potato tarts, and grilled lamb chops.

Arts and Leisure

Hotel Pilar features a terrace with views over the museum square and an art gallery onsite. Guests can use the luggage storage service for free, and families with children of all ages are accommodated with baby cots available on request.

Arts District Location

This design hotel is right in the middle of the action in a hot spot for the arts with many museums and galleries. The Grand Place of Antwerp is only a 15 minute walk away, while Antwerp Central station is 2.5 km from the property.

The hotel is located in a nice neighborhood with plenty of bars and restaurants, not very central but in a great district of the city. The room was fun and comfortable, with a view and unique mirror walls with a wooden floor effect ceiling, but dining options seemed quite expensive. The staff was bubbly and friendly, creating a cute vibe. The location is excellent for exploring the city, close to attractions and transport options.

I was thrilled with my stay at this hotel! The rooms have clearly undergone some serious refurbishments, and the central location is a big plus. However, my room was facing another hotel/restaurant, which was a bit of a letdown.

The hotel's in a vibrant area with plenty of cafes and galleries, though it can get noisy at night due to the bar downstairs and traffic. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper. The rooms were a bit run-down compared to the ads, lacking high-end toiletries as promised. However, they were spacious with a sitting room, table, and a convertible sofa bed.

Dining

The dining was quite pricey for what we got, and the portions were small. The drinks and food were high above the expected costs, especially for Antwerp.
