Guests consistently praise the hotel's location in the beautiful and historic Topsham, finding it a convenient base for exploring Exeter and nearby attractions, including easy train access to Exmouth and Dawlish. The self-catering apartments are frequently described as spacious, clean, and well-equipped for longer stays, though some note the presence of stairs. Many appreciate the excellent food, particularly the cooked breakfast options, and the pub's relaxing atmosphere; a few guests have suggested more fruit variety at breakfast would be welcome.
