mixed feelings about this stay
outdated decor small tv
The location was acceptable. It was near to several local shops.
the room's decor felt really outdated, it seemed like stepping back into the past. the small tv mounted on the wall was an oddity, i couldn't quite understand the need for an extension lead for the wall heater. the absence of a proper coffee machine in the bar was disappointing, i had hoped for a better coffee.

basic stay with some issues
outdated bathroom instant coffee
The bathroom felt quite outdated, and the hot water took a long time to warm up. an extension lead powered the wall-mounted heater which felt a bit odd. the general decoration felt dated too. i was disappointed that the bar only served instant coffee.

historic charm and great service
great character on-site parking town centre helpful staff
the building had great character (i loved its history). there was on-site parking available, a major plus. the location was perfect for walking into the town centre. i found the staff to be very helpful and friendly.
the hot water in the bathroom took a while to get to a suitable temperature.

the receptionist offered helpful advice regarding local restaurants. breakfast was served in the bright conservatory, a space i found particularly pleasant because of the ample room between tables. staff seemed proud of their hotel.

acceptable stay but some issues
cold room electric heaters
the building had many original features, i noticed.
The room was cold when i arrived. the central heating had not been switched on even after check-in time. Electric heaters were provided until it warmed up! also, there was no lift, and my room was several flights of stairs up.
