reasonable accommodation

lovely decor divine scent fresh milk tasteless risotto reheated potatoes flavourless turkey
the room decor, its lovely touch, really elevated my stay. the provided toiletries had such a divine scent to it, a small luxury i enjoyed. fresh milk was offered daily, such a thoughtful addition to the tea and coffee.
christmas lunch was a total letdown. the beetroot risotto tasted like nothing at all. the reheated roast potatoes weren't pleasant, also the turkey roll seemed to lack that genuine flavor.

Festive Christmas Lunch

decorative dinning room fantastic food
I had Christmas lunch at the hotel. The dining room was very decorative, and the setting was fantastic. The waitress knew all the wines and their availability without needing to check (a nice touch). The food arrived promptly, was presented well, and tasted fantastic.
We popped in for a cocktail one Saturday evening. We waited ten minutes to be served, and another twenty minutes passed before we had to remind the bar staff about our drinks. After another ten minutes with no drinks, we decided to cancel our order (it was just too long).
Service

The staff was very attentive and quick to offer drinks upon arrival. A waitress knew the wine selection well and advised us promptly. Lucy at reception gave a warm welcome and offered a room upgrade when she knew it was my birthday.
Rooms
10/10
Room 26 featured a separate sitting room with a desk and a private balcony. The bedroom was very comfortable with a comfortable bed, and the bathroom was spacious. The room provided adequate storage (very helpful for longer stays).
Location
9/10
The hotel offers car parking just a short distance down the road (a valuable amenity in the area). The hotel is well-positioned, and the ferry to the Isle of Wight departs nearby. I found the location had more to offer than Lyndhurst and Brockenhurst.

HIGH standard, friendly atmosphere

fresh decor modern decor tasteful room garden view
The room had fresh coffee bags instead of instant ones. The room included fresh milk. I found wonderful toiletries, and I thought these were excellent touches. The decor was fresh and modern. It also felt classy. I appreciated the comfortable room and a pretty view of the garden.
My ONLY SLIGHT PROBLEM WAS, the garden bar was understaffed, causing a wait for drinks, even when the area wasn't busy.

Acceptable stay

upmarket decor stylish decor divine toiletries dirty cups slow service lukewarm coffee
The decor looked upmarket. It was also stylish. The room seemed luxurious. It also felt homely. The toiletries smelled divine.
The coffee service needs improvement. I waited ages for my coffee. The coffee was served lukewarm. The staff left the original dirty cups and saucers when serving the second lot.
