Review summary

The Whitechapel hotel is often praised for its excellent value, particularly given its convenient location near Whitechapel underground station, making it easy to access central London and various attractions like the Tower of London. Guests frequently appreciate the well-equipped rooms, which include amenities like a fridge, kettle, and sometimes even air conditioning. Some guests have mentioned the sink being located outside the bathroom as a design quirk, but overall, many find the rooms clean and spacious, especially those on the fourth floor, and a good base for exploring the city.

mixed feelings about this place

online photos strange smell
The location was really convenient. Tube station was nearby.
The room i got wasn't quite what i expected. The photos online made it look much larger than it was. also, the noise levels were a bit much. I could hear everything happening outside, even with the windows closed. there was also a strange smell lingering in the bathroom. It wasn't overpowering, but it was definitely noticeable and a bit unpleasant.

Good Value and Location

clean room polite staff useful socket friendly person
I stayed in a clean room with a decent size for three nights. The staff was polite and helpful with any questions. Sockets near the bed were very useful for charging my phone.
The shower's drainage was a bit slow, and I could hear people talking clearly outside the room. It was not a major issue, but I noticed it.
Location
9/10
Two subway stops are quite close, and all services are available within a short walking distance. Excellent breakfast and dining options are available in the area. I found it easy to get around to various parts of the city.
Dining
8/10
The restaurant downstairs offered large portions and good flavor at a reasonable price. I found a market near the subway with fresh fruits, sold by the pound. It made getting breakfast very convenient, a definite plus for early mornings.

i noticed that the curtains in my room were a little too small , they did let in some light in the morning.

convenient commute good service hard bed lukewarm shower
The location was decently near the metro and many buses. This made commuting very convenient. I appreciated the good service.
I found the bed quite hard. It was definitely not the most comfortable place to rest after a long day. I could also hear noise from the neighboring room very clearly. The shower was lukewarm, not what I needed after trekking around all day.

Acceptable Stay with Noted Issues

bathroom design cooling inadequacy
The location provided easy access to nearby areas.
The room I occupied had noticeable deficiencies. The bathroom design caused water to spread across the floor after showering, it made the space quite inconvenient. I observed the air conditioning unit did not adequately cool the room, a fact which resulted in a need to sleep with the window open and be exposed to external noises.
