Prestonfield House offers an opulent experience within easy reach of Edinburgh, though some have noted that navigating the hotel's many steps can be a little tricky. Guests often appreciate the uniquely decorated rooms, some of which feature complimentary champagne, and enjoy exploring the grounds where they might spot resident Highland coos or even Colin the peacock. Dining is a highlight, especially the acclaimed Rhubarb restaurant and the generous breakfast with homemade potato scones.

champagne bottle fresh fruit highland cows
my room was a luxury room. i noticed a complimentary bottle of champagne, truffles, fruit, and cookies upon arrival (a very nice touch). the hotel grounds allowed for a quick stroll and featured highland cows. i could stream content to the tv from my phone.
breakfast service felt a bit erratic during my one-night stay.

a romantic stay

opulent room delicious breakfast friendly staff beautiful grounds
I loved how opulent my room was, a real treat! it had complimentary chocolates and a chilled bottle of champagne. It felt so special. walking the grounds was lovely. I saw the resident peacock, colin, and some adorable highland coos. the staff were very friendly and happily shared stories about the history of the hotel and colin. dinner in rhubarb was superb. The breakfast menu was full of delicious choices and homemade potato scones.
the only slight downside was that some areas of the hotel had a few too many steps, making navigation a little tricky.

friendly staff excellent breakfast missing dress code casual clothing
I had such a blast! the staff were super friendly and helpful. breakfast was excellent, and the tasting menu one evening was great too. i loved the opulent decor in both the hotel and the rooms. It felt so luxurious.
i booked for dinner, but i was a bit disappointed. there was no dress code. some diners wore jeans and casual clothing. i think a place that values quality should enforce a dress code.
